Amethyst - The birthstone for Pisces, comes in various sizes from polished to rough. Mainly from South American regions. Used in healing for dispelling negative energies and cleansing other crystals. It is said to be beneficial in the treatment of arthritis, back pain, insomnia and the skeletal structure. The tumblestone version makes it ideal for carrying in pockets, where as the rough specimens show the true beauty of the crystal with its colours ranging from pale lavenders to the deepest purple. The most common colour is a medium purple which is mostly found in South America, and the deepest purples from Uruguay. Pet lovers may be interested to know that when amethyst is placed in water bowls of their animals, it has been known to help eliminate fleas.
